In a recent development, the upcoming white-ball series between Afghanistan and Bangladesh has reportedly been postponed. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) reached a mutual agreement to postpone the series that is scheduled for late July in Greater Noida, India.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) granted approval for Afghanistan to host their home games in India. The BCCI allowed Afghanistan to use the Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida as their home ground. The Indian board continues to support Afghanistan despite Taliban rule.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board was set to host Bangladesh for a series including two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is after the ICC T20 World Cup. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board was hesitant about a Test series against Afghanistan. The white-ball series was scheduled from July 25 to August 6 in Greater Noida.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to its contracted players following the rescheduling of the series against Afghanistan. This decision enables several Bangladesh players to participate in franchise cricket leagues during the period originally allocated for the Afghanistan series.

Afghanistan-Bangladesh White-Ball Series Postponed - Report

Gaurav Gupta, Senior Assistant Editor at The Times of India, reported that the Afghanistan vs Bangladesh white-ball series, planned for later this month in Greater Noida, has been postponed.

"#breaking Hearing that the Afghanistan Bangladesh white ball series, scheduled to be held in Greater Noida later this month, has been postponed #cricket," Gaurav Gupta wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

We Were Not Prepared To Play The Series - In Charge Of BCB's Cricket Operations

Shahriar Nafees, in charge of BCB's cricket operations, recently stated that Bangladesh was reluctant to play the series against Afghanistan in July due to anticipated rainfall in Greater Noida. Nafees mentioned that BCB granted NOCs to players to participate in franchise-based T20 tournaments.

"We were not prepared to play the series against Afghanistan in July because, according to weather reports, there will be rain in Greater Noida at that time," Nafees told Cricbuzz.

"After both boards agreed to reschedule the series to a more convenient time, we decided to issue NOCs to our players upon their request. When they learned that the white-ball series against Afghanistan in July was off, they decided to apply for NOCs to participate in various franchise-based T20 tournaments."

Shakib Al Hasan and Shariful Islam signed contracts with the Bangla Tigers Mississauga in the Global T20 Canada. Shakib is set to feature for the Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket (MLC).
