Bangladesh ODI squad for series against West Indies officially announced, Soumya Sarkar selected

Bangladesh have announced their squad for the limited-overs series against the West Indies, and Mahidul Islam Ankon has been called up to the ODI squad. Soumya Sarkar has also made a comeback to the squad for the first time since the Champions Trophy.
The West Indies are scheduled to travel to Bangladesh for the three ODI matches to be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on the 18th, 21st, and 23rd of October.
This series marks a follow-up tour after the West Indies team had arrived in the subcontinent for the two-match Test series against India from the 2nd of October.
Mahidul Islam Ankon gets maiden ODI call-up
Middle-order batter Mahidul Islam Ankon has earned a maiden ODI call-up as the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced a 16-member squad for the three-match ODI series. They recently suffered a humiliating loss against Afghanistan in the recent series.
The two players, Mohammad Naim and paceman Nahid Rana, who played against Afghanistan in the third ODI on Tuesday, have missed the upcoming series with a strain and have also been left out.
The West Indies have already landed in Dhaka, and the Tigers have also reached the country after their whitewash against Afghanistan. Hence, the upcoming series will be an opportunity to restore the winning streak, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz will be focusing on the same.
Litton Das misses out on the ODI series due to an injury
The West Indies canceled their practice session and press conference on Thursday for reasons not known till now; however, Windies head coach Daren Sammy and batter Brandon King were at Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium for an optional session.
Soumya Sarkar, who last played in the Champions Trophy in February, has been recalled for the series. Soumya Sarkar was not a part of the previous series against Afghanistan. While Litton Das, the T20I skipper who led them in the Asia Cup, is unlikely to make it to the ODIs due to the side strain injury that he sustained in the Asia Cup.
Litton had missed the ODI as well as the T20I series against Afghanistan, and he continues to be rested since the BCB didn't intend to take any risk with their T20I skipper.
