Bangladesh Playing 11 vs Sri Lanka- Asia Cup 2025, Super 4, Match 1:

Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka for the second time in the ongoing edition of the Asia Cup, and would like to put on a much better performance than what they did in the first outing against the former Asia Cup champions.

The Litton Das-led side can take confidence from the fact that they came from behind to register a solid win against Afghanistan to keep their hopes alive of making it to the Super Four, which they eventually did

The Bangla Tigers would want to replicate the same performance in the first match of the next round to claim a win.

To achieve its goal, Bangladesh is expected to go into this particular match with an unchanged XI that took the field against Afghanistan, and would like the batters to take more responsibility.

The team would open the innings with the pair of Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Saif Hassan, both of whom got the Bengal Tigers off to a solid start at the top of the order in the powerplay.

The duo added 63 runs for the first wicket with Tamim scoring a fighting half-century, which laid the foundation for Bangladesh to post an above-par total, which they failed to do, courtesy of some poor batting from the middle order.

Tanim's partner, Saif Hassan, who was included in the playing XI in place of Parvez Hossain Emon, also played his part and gave good support to Tamim, and would hope to keep up the good work against Sri Lanka as well.

Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Litton Das (c & wk), Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Nurul Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Rishad Hossain

The openers will be followed by a middle order, which will be aware of the fact that it was quite underwhelming in terms of how they batted in the previous game.

The likes of Litton Das, Towhid Hridoy, and Shamim Hossain will have to bat with a bit more intent against an in-form Sri Lankan bowling attack.

The onus will be on Litton Das to lead from the front, being the captain of the team, and also due to the fact that he bats at number three, which is considered an important position in any form of the game.

Litton would also want other batters to provide him with a good amount of support to create pressure on the opposition bowlers.

Bowlers: Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed

As far as the bowling lineup is concerned, the decision to include Nasum Ahmed in the last match paid rich dividends, and he is expected to retain his place in the playing XI for the clash against Sri Lanka.

Along with that, Bangladesh might also back their strategy of playing with seven specialist batters and four genuine bowlers.

If the captain and the team management decide to stick with the same combination, then Bangladesh will have to rely on Shamim Hossain and Saif Hassan to accomplish the fifth bowler's role.

When it comes to the fast bowling department, it will be handled by the experienced duo of Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman.
