On Friday, August 22, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officially announced the squad of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team for the Asia Cup 2025.
Litton Das will continue to lead the Bangladesh National Cricket Team in the upcoming edition of the continental tournament in their quest for a maiden Asia Cup title.
Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan returns for the Asia Cup 2025
The BCB selection committee has picked a 16-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup, and the same team will lock horns with the Netherlands in a three-match T20I series.
The T20I matches between the Flying Dutchmen and the Tigers are scheduled to be hosted by Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on August 30, September 1, and 3.
After the series, the team will shift focus towards the Asia Cup 2025, where they have been placed in Group B alongside Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong.
Bangladesh's squad for the marquee tournament is along the expected lines, with the return of wicketkeeper-batter Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan being the only major surprise.
He has played 46 T20I matches for the Tigers, but his last outing came during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
Saif Hassan has also made it to the squad, and for the continental tournament, the BCB selection committee has named Soumya Sarkar, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Tanvir Islam, and Hasan Mahmud as standbys.

Bangladesh have never won the Asia Cup
The Tigers have been quite competitive in the Asia Cup tournaments over the years, but have failed to get their hands on the trophy.
They made their debut in the Asia Cup in 1986, securing two losses in the group stage and finishing 3rd out of 3 teams. Then, they consistently finished at the bottom of their group, with minimal or no wins from 1988 to 2000.
They won their first game in the Asia Cup in 2004 and registered their second win in 2008. Their best performances came in 2012, 2016, and 2018, when they reached the finals.
However, they lost against Pakistan in the 2012 final and against India in the 2016 final. In the 2018 edition of the Asia Cup, they once again faced a defeat at the hands of the Men in Blue in the summit clash.
Talking about their most recent performances, they won no games in the 2022 Asia Cup and just two matches in the 2023 Asia Cup.
