Bangladesh spin bowling coach Rangana Herath won’t be available for the West Indies tour. The Sri Lankan bowling great has applied for leave to be with his family.
Bangladesh team director Khaled Mahmud confirmed that the former Sri Lankan player won’t be part of the coaching group during Bangladesh’s visit to the Caribbean.

“Herath will not be available in the West Indies tour as he will be with his family,,” Mahmud told Cricbuzz.

The schedule for the Bangladesh tour of the West Indies is yet to be announced but it is expected that the tour is comprised of two Tests, three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals.
According to a Cricbuzz report, the draft itinerary mentioned that the opening Test will be played at Antigua from June 16-20 while the second Test will be played in St Lucia from June 24-28.
The opening two T20Is will be played in Dominica respectively on July 2 and 3 while the third will be played in Guyana on July 7. The three ODIs are also scheduled in Guyana on July 10, 13 and 16.
Rangana Herath’s tenure with Bangladesh to end in November
Herath replaced New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori as Bangladesh spin bowling coach in July last year. His first assignment was to travel to Zimbabwe for the white-ball series.

Herath’s contract was extended till the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia later this year.
The 44-year-old will be available for Bangladesh’s upcoming home Test series against Sri Lanka. The series comprises of two Tests, which will be part of the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle.
The first Test will start on May 15 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram and the final Test will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka between May 23 and 27.
