2nd innings (West Indies): Bangladesh bowlers were totally in control during the second innings

Chasing down the 298 runs target, inexperienced West Indies batsmen failed to put any strong fight. Bangladesh bowlers were totally in control during the second innings. While the hosts got the wickets at regular intervals, the Caribbean batsmen also failed to move the scoreboard quickly.

Only the no.3 batsman Nkrumah Bonner (31), no.6 batsman Rovman Powell (47) and no.8 batsman Raymon Reifer (27) managed to reach the 20-run marks in that innings.

While Mohammad Saifuddin got three wickets (3/51), Mustafizur Rahman (2/24) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (2/18) bagged two wickets each.

1st innings (Bangladesh): four half-centuries helped the hosts to manage a big total

Caribbean bowlers provided a good start as they dismissed the opener Liton Das (0) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (20) quickly. While Das was trapped for lbw by Alzarri Joseph on the fifth ball of the day, Kyle Mayers took the wicket of Shanto through another lbw in the ninth over.

But then another opener Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan controlled the innings and set up the 93 runs partnership for the third wicket. Joseph finally brought the breakthrough as Tamim’s dismissal helped him to complete his 50 ODI wickets. While skipper Tamim completed his half-century in 70 balls, the left-handed opening batsman scored 64 off 80 balls (3 fours and only six).

Shakib also completed his fifty in 78 balls. But soon after his half-century, Shakib (51 off 81 balls; 3 fours) lost his wicket after building another crucial 48 runs fourth-wicket partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim. Raymon Reifer bowled him to pick up that wicket. But then Rahim and Mahmuddlah controlled that first innings and quickly set up the 72 runs partnership for the fifth wicket.

Rahim reached his fifty in 47 balls and scored 64 runs off 55 balls (4 fours and 2 sixes) before Reifer took his wicket in the 47th over. Mahmudullah finished that innings in great style as he reached the 50-run mark in 40 balls and remained not out on 64 off 43 balls (3 fours and 3 sixes).

Alzarri Joseph (2/48) and Raymon Reifer (2/61) got two wickets each in this match.
