Team Bangladesh will play two warm-up matches against Sri Lanka Women and South Africa Women before their first match in the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 against Pakistan Women on October 2 in Colombo.
It will be just the second outing of the Bangladesh Women's Team in ICC Women's Cricket World Cup history after their maiden appearance in 2022, and they will be looking forward to delivering a good performance.
Talking about notable inclusions, wicket-keeper-batter Rubya Haider has received a maiden ODI call-up, while youngsters Nishita Akter Nishi and Sumaiya Akter have been picked.
The youngsters have delivered some impressive performances that forced the selectors to pick them for the marquee tournament. Also, the rest of the squad is among the expected lines.
The BCB Women's wing chief selector, Sazzad Ahmed Mansur, while talking about Nishita Akter Nishi, said that she shows great maturity while bowling, and added that Sumaiya Akter provides a great all-round option to the team.
“Nishita is still young, but she bowls with great maturity," said Sazzad Ahmed Mansur, chief selector of the BCB Women's Wing.
"She is consistent, calm under pressure and her ability to contain left-handers gave her an edge. We believe this experience will serve her well and add depth to our spin attack.
“Sumaiya has been knocking on the door for some time. She brings the ability to occupy the crease and accelerate when needed. With her skill set and fielding standards, she gives us an all-round option in the top order.”
