Another teenage batter has captured the headlines through his brilliant batting in the ongoing 2026-27 Ranji Trophy season. Priyanshu Moliya, a 21-year-old batter from Baroda, registered a triple century against the defending champions, Jammu and Kashmir.

Priyanshu Moliya explains his batting against Jammu and Kashmir

After the stumps of the Day's play, the young Baroda batter told BCCI in an interview that he aimed to play as long as possible. They lost a few wickets early in the innings, so Moliya was trying to stitch some significant partnerships in the middle.

"First of all, I am feeling very good. I was trying to play as long as possible. Because at the start, the wickets had fallen. So I was looking for a partnership. So the target was to play as long as possible," Moliya told BCCI.

"The wicket was very good. The fast bowler helped me a little. So I was trying to play as close to the body as possible. And that was the target; in my mind, it was the same. In the start, it was a long one. As soon as the fielder came up, I thought that if I got a ball in my range, I would hit it," he added.

Responsibility led Priyanshu Moliya to the milestone

Priyanshu, who completed his century by smashing a six, claimed that because of the extra responsibility, he was able to play the milestone knock. It was not easy for him, as the team kept losing wickets in most of the first innings.

"I think the responsibility was big. Because the wickets were continuously falling. So the side batsmen have the responsibility to play long for the team. And keep doing partnerships," he said.
