Aaron Finch has been a legend in the Big Bash League. Since the inception of the league, the batter has been part of the Melbourne Renegades and has played some great innings for them over the years. He is the second-highest run-getter in the tournament’s history and is one of the main reasons behind the team’s good outings.
Aaron Finch has scored 3311 runs so far in 106 matches at 34.85 with two centuries to his name. The batter also captained the team and led them to glory in the 2018-19. Under his leadership, Melbourne Renegades defeated Melbourne Stars to win the title.
Aaron Finch would be hoping to end his career on high and take his team to win. Melbourne Renegades are last on the table with just one win. They are out of the race from the playoffs but would be hoping to give a strong farewell to Finch by registering their second win.
They have started well after winning the toss and opting to field first. Their bowlers are right on the money and have 5 wickets of Stars in no time. With the way they have started, they look favorites to win.
BBL 2023-24: This has been a huge part of mine – Aaron Finch on retiring from Melbourne Renegades
Aaron Finch opened up about his retirement ahead of the game. He admitted that he would be emotional because playing for Melbourne Renegades has been a huge part of his life. He was quick to say that he took the decision at the right time as it will allow youngsters to take charge. As quoted by ESPNCricinfo, he stated:
“I haven’t got emotional around any of my retirements, which is quite strange. But maybe tomorrow I will. This has been a huge part of mine and my family’s life for the last 13 years and have put as much time and effort into it as I can and, yeah, it’ll be sad, no doubt. But it’s time to move on and the next generation of players coming through are seriously good. So it’s in good hands.”
Aaron Finch hasn’t had a great season with the bat this season. His poor form has been one of the reasons why the Melbourne Renegades struggled. He would be hoping to set the stage on fire with the bat in his farewell game.
