The Bangladesh National Cricket Team and the Nepal National Cricket Team are all set to be seen in action later this year. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is looking at the possibility of playing a bilateral series in Nepal before the current FTP cycle ends in 2027.

The possibilities are being explored after the Nepal Cricket Association (NCA) invited Bangladesh to play in Nepal. The BCB has taken the proposal seriously, and both boards are now discussing how the series can be fitted into Bangladesh's already busy international schedule. Amid this, Rishabh Pant likely to return for West Indies ODIs; Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal in contention.

Bangladesh keen to make the Nepal series happen

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cricket operations in-charge Shahriar Nafees confirmed that the Nepal Cricket Association (NCA) had sent the proposal of playing a bilateral series with Bangladesh some time ago. The BCB responded positively and is trying to find a suitable window for the series.

Nafees further shared that discussions are taking place between the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the Nepal Cricket Association, but the biggest challenge is Bangladesh's packed international calendar. Still, the BCB is trying to schedule the series before the end of the 2027 FTP cycle.

However, nothing has been finalized yet, including the dates. The BCB will share more details once the discussions reach a stage where the series can be confirmed.

BCB trying to find a suitable window for Nepal series

Shahriar Nafees was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz, "If everything matches properly, because we know that our FTP is very packed, even then, if we can positively choose a convenient time within this cycle, we are trying to do that. If everything goes well, hopefully this series can take place.”

The BCB cricket operation in charge further shared, “The cycle is until 2027. We have the intention to do it within this cycle, and there is also that request from the Nepal Cricket Association. So, we are positively working it out.

When it reaches a stage where it is possible to say something, or when we reach a position where we can say whether it is happening or not, then we will be able to inform you in due time. But I can confirm this much: there has been communication from the Nepal Cricket Association, and we are looking at it very positively.”

Bangladesh’s busy calendar begins with Asian Games preparations

Bangladesh will also start its Asian Games 2026 preparations from September 13. At the same time, the other players who are expected to be part of the Afghanistan series have already started a conditioning camp. Bangladesh will play a one-off test against Afghanistan. Earlier, Ibrahim Zadran sends warning to India, revealing a plan for Jasprit Bumrah.

And then an ODI Tri-Nation Series involving the UAE and Afghanistan sides. Later, they will also play a three-match T20I series and two-match Test series against Zimbabwe.

The camp will continue until the team leaves for the UAE. Later, the rest of the players will join the National Cricket League (NCL). Meanwhile, Bangladesh is still waiting for confirmation of the venues for the Afghanistan series.

Since Afghanistan is hosting the series, their cricket board will decide where the matches will be played, but the UAE is expected to host the games, with Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah among the possible venues.
