The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed the women’s ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming tour of England, which is set to begin on June 28. Explosive opener Shafali Verma, who last played a T20I during the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2024, has been recalled for the five-match T20I series.

India are set to tour England later this month for a limited-overs series, including three ODIs and five T20Is. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side in both formats, with Smriti Mandhana appointed as the vice-captain. The Women in Blue will be hoping to win a challenging series against the home team.

Shafali Returns to India Squad After Seven-Month Absence

Shafali Verma has earned a recall to the T20I squad after a seven-month absence. She was dropped from the squad last November due to a series of underwhelming performances. The right-handed batter showed consistency in domestic competitions and the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

She finished as the top scorer in the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy and the Challenger Trophy while leading Haryana. The opener scored 527 runs at an average of 75.29 and a strike rate of 152.31 in the One Day Trophy. She also amassed 414 runs at 82.80 with a 145.26 strike rate in the Challenger Trophy.

Shafali also impressed in the WPL, where she powered Delhi Capitals to the final with 304 runs at a strike rate of 152.76, finishing as the fourth-highest scorer in the competition.

During her absence, Uma Chetry and Richa Rawal had stepped in as openers alongside Smriti Mandhana in T20Is and ODIs, respectively. While Rawal has retained her spot, Chetry has been replaced by Shafali.

Shafali Verma Not Included in ODI Team for England Tour

Shafali Verma has not been included in the ODI team, having last played an ODI in October 2024. Sneh Rana has been recalled to both squads after impressive performances in the WPL 2025.

Wicketkeepers Richa Ghosh and Yastika Bhatia have been included in both the ODI and T20I squads, along with all-rounder Deepti Sharma and batter Harleen Deol.

Jemimah Rodrigues, who is a floater in the batting order, is part of both squads. Medium-fast bowler Arundhati Reddy has also secured spots in both formats. Meanwhile, Tejal Hasabnis and Pratika Rawal have been chosen for the ODI matches on the tour.
