Yesterday, it was reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to sack its current physio, Kamlesh Jain. Today, on September 11, the board officially shared a notice to hire for the position of Head – Sports Science & Medicine at the Centre of Excellence.
BCCI asked job seekers to share their details if they want to apply for the role. The board has shared all the details about the job and the criteria to apply for the position. In the media release, they made it clear that the newly appointed physio will have to work closely with the Center of Excellence (CoE) staff for the welfare of the players, especially the players who are dealing with Injuries.

The announcement of recruitment comes amid the growing concerns inside the team and the team management, ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup. The position will have a key focus on player welfare, injury prevention and rehabilitation, physical development, research, innovation, and the adoption of relevant technologies and services - BCCI mentions this in their press release.
For the past few months, the Indian cricket team has been struggling with multiple injury issues. Therehaved been very few series in the recent pat,thath the Indian cricket team has played without sustaining any injury. Ahead of series, whether it was bilaterals or multi-nation contests, the Indian team management had to change their teams multiple times because of repeated injuries.
Multipl key players are still dealing with injuries
Key players like Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Hardik Pandya, and a number of other players had to struggle because of injuries. Pandya and Rana are likely to remain out of action for more days as per the latest reports, while Bumrah, Sundar, and Reddy are likely to make comebacks soon with the Indian cricket team.
BCCI recently arranged a meeting to review the Indian cricket team's recent performance. The meeting was arranged after the series inthe UK, where India faced back-to-back series defeats against Ireland and England, and then went to Zimbabw,e where they got their momentum back.
Kamlesh Jain is likely to remain till the 2026 Asian Games
The series defea,ts includilossesost in T20Is against Ireland, were a massive setback for the Indian cricket team. After the review meeting, the BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told the media about their concerns over the repeated injury concerns of their players.
Though, he dismissed any communication issues between the team management and the Centre of Excellence staff. But Saikia made it clear that resolving the injuries wwastheir primary target ahead of 20the 27 ODI World Cup.
Yesterday, it was widely reported that the board was on the verge of removing Kamlesh Jain from the team. If the reports are to be believed, then Jain is currently in the notice period, but is likely to stay with the team during the upcoming India vs Afghanistan T20I series and then during the Asian Games 2026 in Japan as well.
