BCCI announces massive cash reward for India's Champions Trophy winning team; gifts more than PCB's hosting money

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has, on Thursday (March 20), announced a massive INR 58 crore cash reward for the India National Cricket Team after their record-breaking triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 earlier this month.
In the official media release, the BCCI has confirmed that this reward will be shared among the players, coaching staff, support staff, and the Ajit Agarkar-led India National Selection Committee as a recognition of their outstanding contribution to the team’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 triumph.

Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, the India National Cricket Team ended the tournament as an unbeaten side. The Men in Blue started their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign with a six-wicket victory over Bangladesh, followed by another six-wicket win against Pakistan.
A 44-run triumph over New Zealand kept their winning streak alive in the recent Champions Trophy 2025 before they defeated Australia by four wickets in the semi-final to make it to the finals.
In the final, Rohit Sharma and Co. crushed the Black Caps by four wickets to lift the Champions Trophy for the record third time at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on March 9. This was India’s second ICC title triumph within 10 months.
Roger Binny hails India’s back-to-back ICC title triumphs
Announcing the reward, the BCCI president, Roger Binny, said that winning back-to-back ICC titles is special and deserves recognition for their dedication and excellence on the global stage. Binny noted that the announced cash award is a recognition of the hard work that everyone puts in behind the scenes.
Binny stated, “This was also our second ICC Trophy in 2025, following the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup triumph, and it highlights the strong cricketing ecosystem in place in our country.”

Meanwhile, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia praised the Men in Blue’s hard work and dominance, saying their Champions Trophy triumph reaffirms their top ranking in white-ball cricket. He expressed confidence that the team will continue to set new benchmarks in the ICC events.

On the other hand, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla praised Rohit Sharma and his team’s stellar performance over the past couple of years, especially in the ICC events, calling the cash reward a well-earned recognition. He also hailed the players’ composure under pressure and said that their success is an inspiration to aspiring cricketers across the country.

Notably, Indian players are currently gearing up for the upcoming IPL 2025, starting on March 22. Their next assignment is an England tour where they will play five Tests in June.
