The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed a slight change in the fixture of the upcoming home ODI series against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team.

Ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup, the India National Cricket Team is set to host Sri Lanka for a white-ball series. The six-match series comprises three ODIs followed by three T20Is. The bilateral series is set to start on December 13.

Visakhapatnam will host the India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI

According to the previous schedule, Delhi was selected as the venue to host the first match of the series. On November 5, BCCI, through an official press release, informed that the match will be played at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam instead of in Delhi.

As per the official release, due to the potential weather disruption and the proposed renovation work at the stadium, the board decided to shift the opening match of the upcoming series from Delhi to Visakhapatnam.

The India vs Sri Lanka series will start with a 3-match ODI series, and then, after the conclusion of the series, there will be a three-match T20I contest. Six matches will be arranged across Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Cuttack, and Pune.

Fresh fixtures after the change in the venue:
1. Sunday (December 13, 2026) 2:00 PM, 1st ODI, Visakhapatnam
2. Wednesday (December 16, 2026) 2:00 PM, 2nd ODI, Bengaluru
3. Saturday (December 19, 2026) 2:00 PM, 3rd ODI, Ahmedabad
4. Tuesday (December 22, 2026) 7:00 PM, 1st T20I, Rajkot
5. Thursday (December 24, 2026) 7:00 PM, 2nd T20I, Cuttack
6. Sunday (December 27, 2026) 7:00 PM, 3rd T20I, Pune

Important ODI series ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup

It will be a returning series for both of the teams, as they have faced each other for a brief Test match earlier this year. For the two-match Test series, the Shubman Gill-led side toured Sri Lanka and returned with a 1-0 scoreline. The touring side won the first Test by a 165-run margin, but the hosts bounced back in the next match and ended the second match in a draw.

This upcoming home series will be from December 13 to December 27, will be highly valuable for both of the teams because of the ODI series. The three One Day Internationals will provide the teams a good stage to test their teams against the top-class batters and bowlers. As the 2027 ODI World Cup will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, bowlers are expected to take vital roles throughout the tournament.

India defeated New Zealand with ease in Auckland

The Shubman Gill-led side is currently in New Zealand for the 5-match ODI series. They started off the ODI series, defeating the home team by 5 wickets in a low-scoring match in Auckland.

Before returning home, they will try to clinch the series to keep their confidence and morale high for the next matches in the future. Needless to say, defeating New Zealand in New Zealand will not be an easy task for the Indian cricket team.
