In a massive development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) bans video analyst Raja Reddy, who is alleged to have made a 'corrupt approach' to Andhra player Girinath Reddy before the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy quarterfinals against Madhya Pradesh at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. BCCI ombudsman, Arun Kumar Mishra, a former judge of the Supreme Court, ordered the ban on Raja Reddy, a video analyst.
The step against Reddy came in the public domain in the form of an official release. According to the official statements, Dheeraj Malhotra, Manager, Anti-Corruption Unit, Board of Control for Cricket in India, investigated the matter before filing the final report to the ombudsman. Based on the final report, Arun Kumar Mishra was ordered to ban Reddy.
Why did the BCCI ombudsman ban video analyst Raja Reddy?
"Mr. Girinath Reddy, a cricket player of the Andhra Cricket Association reported a corrupt approach made to him by the respondent. In relation to the Quarter Final match of the Ranji Trophy Tournament which was scheduled to be played from 23.02.2024 to 26.02.2024 at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore between the teams representing the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) and Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA)", a portion of the official release reads.
"The player promptly reported the matter first to his Team Manager, namely, Mr. Jugal Kishore. Both the player and the Team Manager promptly reported the incident to the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) of the BCCI, which then conducted an inquiry into the same under the provisions", it further continues.

Personal conversations were also part of the investigation process
During the course of the investigation, phone calls, WhatsApp chats, e-mails, and screenshots of all three persons, Girinatah Reddy (cricketer), Jugal Kishore (Team Manager), and Raja Reddy (Video Analysts), were checked thoroughly.
It is informed that Raja had deleted the conversation with the player, though the player himself supported the officials to proceed with the investigation further. After the investigation, the alleged video analysts are charged with multiple acts and eventually banned by the Board of Ombuds.
