The BCCI apex committee has reportedly held a meeting to find new sponsors ahead of the ODI World Cup 2027, while they are also to replace current President Roger Binny in the upcoming BCCI elections, as claimed after Rajeev Shukla, the interim president, chaired the Apex Council meeting on the 28th of August.
Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, the Indian cricket board has been facing several criticisms since they have been undergoing several changes, which include the president's role as well as finding a new sponsor ahead of the major tournaments.
BCCI looks to appoint a new President to replace Roger Binny
The Indian Cricket Board has been undergoing the load of not having the services of a permanent president since, as per the board's rule, Roger Binny, who has crossed the age limit of 70, cannot assume the chair any further.
In his absence, the veteran official Rajeev Shukla has been appointed as the interim president of the BCCI, replacing Roger Binny for the time being until the BCCI elections are conducted.
On the 28th of August, the Apex Committee meeting was held, and the meeting was chaired by the acting president, Rajeev Shukla, in Binny's absence. The Abhishek Tripathi report has made this claim while also claiming that the Indian board has discussed the Dream11 sponsorship deal.

Indian board is searching for a new sponsor ahead of the 2027 ICC World Cup
Fantasy Sports company, Dream11, is no longer the title sponsor of the Indian Cricket team, and the board has initiated the process to find a replacement; however, as per Abhishek Tripathi's claims, it cannot be finalized until the next month of the Asia Cup.
As per PTI reports, Dream11 won't continue as the Indian cricket team's title sponsors starting from the major event, the ACC Men's Asia Cup 2025, after the government has recently banned real money gaming under the recently passed 'Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming' act.
"So we cannot continue with them and therefore trying to find some alternatives, and that process is now ongoing. The vacant position of the sponsor is something that we are trying to fill, and till now nothing has been completed. Once something happens, we will let you know with a media advisory," said Devajit Saikia, the BCCI secretary.
Board elections to be held on time; No postponement until new law announced
The Indian sports ministry is keen for the board elections in September as per the National Sports Governance Act, but the cricketing body has been advised to hold them under the supervision of the Supreme Court-approved Lodha Committee recommendations if the new legislation rules are not notified by that time.
However, this has been confirmed by sources of Dainik Jagran reporter Abhishek Tripathi: the board elections will be held soon, and it cannot be denied any further. Elections cannot be postponed until the new Governance Bill is passed.
