Ishant Sharma's stars don't seem to be shining bright at the moment. First, Ishant Sharma was shown the door by Delhi Capitals, but Gujarat Titans put their trust in the experienced pacer and picked him up in the IPL 2025 mega auction for his base price of INR 75 lakhs.
Even the Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans have given the Delhi pacer a chance in three of their first four matches in the ongoing IPL 2025. However, Ishant’s struggle with the ball continues to stretch longer. In three matches so far, he has gone wicketless and given away 97 runs.
Ishant Sharma punished after poor IPL 2025 start
His most expensive outing came against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he conceded 53 runs in his spell at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
However, Gujarat Titans managed to beat SRH by seven wickets to jump to the second spot in the IPL 2025 points table. To make matters worse, now the BCCI has taken strong action against the lanky pacer.
Following the SRH vs GT match in Hyderabad, the BCCI took disciplinary action against Ishant Sharma for breaching the IPL code of conduct. The veteran bowler was fined 25 percent of his match fee and also received one demerit point for his breach.

Ishant Sharma admits breaching Level 1 of the Code of Conduct
According to the official statement by the IPL, Ishant was found guilty of a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2, which involves the misuse of equipment or damage to property on the field. Well, the fast bowler accepted the penalty handed out by match referee Javagal Srinath.
The IPL media release reads, “Ishant Sharma, bowler, Gujarat Titans, has been fined 25 percent of his match fees and has also accumulated one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Ishant Sharma was admitted to the Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 and accepted the match referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the match referee’s decision is final and binding.”

What does the rule say?
Article 2.2 of BCCI’s Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings during a match.”
The rule reads on the official website: “Article 2.2 includes any action(s) outside the course of normal cricket actions, such as hitting or kicking the wickets and any action(s) which deliberately (i.e., intentionally), recklessly, or negligently (in either case even if accidental) result in damage to the advertising boards, boundary fences, dressing room doors, mirrors, windows, and other fixtures and fittings.
For example, this offense may be committed, without limitation, when a player swings his/her bat vigorously in frustration and causes damage to an advertising board.”
Gujarat Titans record hat-trick of wins in IPL 2025
Well, Gujarat Titans recorded a hat-trick of wins in the ongoing IPL 2025 on Sunday, thanks to a brilliant bowling performance from Mohammed Siraj and batting heroics from captain Shubman Gill in Hyderabad. Earlier, GT defeated RCB and MI in the tournament.
The pacer took 4 wickets for just 17 runs, while Gill hit a brilliant fifty to play a key role in GT’s seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025 clash on Sunday.
