Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube Walk Off Without Shaking Hands With Pakistan Players
Handshake between players at the end of a cricket match is a tradition. After India’s win, Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube walked off the field without shaking hands with the Pakistan players.
The two had put together an unbeaten 34-run partnership to secure the victory. None of the Indian players came out of the dugout to meet their opponents. Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha and his team waited outside the Indian dressing room.
Notably, it was the first India-Pakistan encounter after the Pahalgam terror attack. Many fans and former cricketers had urged India not to play against Pakistan. However, the Indian players focused on their game. They gave their best on the field.
India Players Briefed by Team Manager to Skip Handshakes With Pakistan
Higher authorities made the decision for Indian players to skip handshakes with Pakistan after the Asia Cup 2025 clash in Dubai. Notably, Suryakumar Yadav had not shaken hands with Salman Ali Agha during the toss.
According to RevSportz, the Indian government and BCCI instructed the team to send a clear message by avoiding the customary gesture. The players received a brief 30-second briefing from the team manager just before the match.
"🚨 India players received a message from the team manager, after instructions from top hierarchy, to send a strong message by not shaking hands with Pakistan players. It was a 30-second briefing just before the #INDvPAK match," RevSportz reported.

Notably, Salman Ali Agha skipped the post-match interview with the official broadcaster, Sony. The Pakistan skipper avoided the session with Sanjay Manjrekar due to the earlier handshake incident with the Indian players.
India-Pakistan Relations Strained After Pahalgam Terror Attack in April
In May 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor and struck missiles at six locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 tourists.
Two days later, Pakistan responded by targeting civilian areas inside India. The hostilities lasted four days before a ceasefire brought the immediate conflict to an end.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries remain suspended. The heightened political tensions also affected sports. There were spillovers into cricket when the India-Pakistan match was announced by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
