The first Test will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru between February 25- March 1 with the second Test slated in Mohali.
Ganguly said that the venues of the series are not fixed but confirmed that India and Sri Lanka will play the pink-ball Test in Bengaluru.
“Yes, the pink-ball Test will be happening in Bengaluru. We have not decided on all the venues for the Sri Lanka series yet, but it will be announced shortly,” Ganguly told Sportstar.
Rahane and Pujara will go back to Ranji Trophy and score a lot of runs: Sourav Ganguly
Senior Indian batters Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane have been under the hammer for their series of average performances with the bat.
Pujara and Rahane were once again under the spotlight of their critics for not standing up to the occasion and scoring runs according to their experience.
Both Pujara and Rahane scored the fifties in the second innings of the Johannesburg Test as they put up a 111-run stand to push India’s lead to 239.
Pujara accumulated 124 runs from six innings, while Rahane scored 136 from as many innings.
Ganguly is of the opinion that the duo will play in the Ranji Trophy for their respective domestic side and regain form.
“Yeah, they are very good players. Hopefully, they will go back to Ranji Trophy and score a lot of runs, which I am sure they will. I don’t see any problem [for them to go back to domestic cricket after playing so much international cricket],” Ganguly said.
“Ranji Trophy is a huge tournament, and we have all played the tournament. So, they, too, will go back there and perform. They have played the tournament in the past when they were only playing Test cricket and were not part of the ODI or limited-overs team. So, that won’t be a problem,” he added.
The BCCI has decided to conduct the Ranji Trophy in two phases after the red-ball domestic tournament was postponed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
