Anshul Kamboj has left the India A squad midway through the ongoing second unofficial Test against Australia A in Puducherry. The all-rounder was part of India A’s playing XI but has now been released from the team after being called up to India’s ODI team.

Anshul Kamboj has been added to the senior India squad as a replacement for Prasidh Krishna, who has suffered a hamstring injury during the second ODI against West Indies in Guwahati. With India already leading the three-match ODI series 2-0, Kamboj could now be in contention for the final game in Chandigarh on October 3.

Prasidh Krishna suffers hamstring injury

Prasidh Krishna picked up the injury during India’s second ODI against West Indies in Guwahati. The pacer bowled only five overs before leaving the field and did not return to complete his spell.

Prasidh finished with figures of 1/45 from five overs in a high-scoring contest. He bowled four overs in his first spell before returning for the 31st over, but managed only one over in his second spell.

Naman Dhir had to take on additional bowling responsibility and completed 6.1 overs after Prasidh left the field.

As per Cricbuzz, Prasidh Krishna will travel to Bengaluru instead of joining the rest of the Indian team, where he will report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence for further assessment. The extent of his hamstring injury will determine his availability for the third ODI.

Anshul Kamboj leaves India A squad after Prasidh Krishna's injury

Anshul Kamboj was originally preparing for the second unofficial Test against Australia A, which began in Puducherry on September 30. He had a productive first innings with the ball.

However, after being called up to the senior squad as Prasidh's replacement, Kamboj left the India A setup during the ongoing match. Praful Hinge subsequently replaced him in India A's playing XI, as per Sportstar.

Anshul Kamboj bowled only two overs before lunch on Thursday in Australia A's second innings before leaving the ground and boarding the team bus.

His departure is therefore not linked to his performance in the match. Instead, the Haryana pacer has been released to join the senior India squad ahead of the third ODI against West Indies.
