A Dainik Jagran reporter claimed that the ICC has decided against forming any special committee for the Asia Cup trophy dispute. Instead, Saikia and Naqvi will now exchange a few proposals in the coming days with each other over the matter.

Once both parties agree on a suitable option, that decision will be accepted as final. This move could finally bring an end to the long-standing 2025 Asia Cup trophy row.

We have agreed to resolve the matter at the earliest: Devajit Saikia

Meanwhile, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that he had an informal meeting with PCB and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi during the ICC meetings in Dubai. He said that both boards had a friendly conversation and agreed to sort out the trophy issue soon.

Devajit Saikia was quoted as saying by the Times of India: “We had an informal meeting with PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi. Since it wasn't part of the official agenda, ICC arranged a discussion. We are thankful to the ICC for making the effort in resolving the issue.

Both parties had a cordial discussion and have agreed to resolve the matter at the earliest. The ice has been broken. We had a series of meetings in the last few days, and a lot of important matters were discussed at length.”

Various options will be worked out: BCCI Secretary

The drama began after India’s dominant win over Pakistan in the 2025 Asia Cup final. Naqvi reportedly left the Dubai International Cricket Stadium with the trophy after the Men in Blue refused to receive the trophy from the ACC chief, who is also Pakistan’s Interior Minister.

The incident sparked a major controversy between the BCCI and PCB, leading to heated discussions during the ICC meetings in Dubai. In those meetings, Saikia represented the BCCI, while Arun Singh Dhumal attended the crucial CEC meet for India.

The BCCI secretary added, “Both sides will work out something to solve the issue at the earliest. The ice has been broken now, so various options will be worked out. There will be options from the other side as well, and we will also give options on how to settle this issue and come to an amicable solution. I am sure that before any drastic steps are taken by the ICC or anyone else, the issue will be resolved. Both sides are very positive and are willing to settle the matter at the earliest possible time.”
