The BCCI had remained silent following the tragic incident in Bengaluru on June 4. The stampede occurred as fans gathered at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Following the incident, the Bengaluru team announced financial assistance of ₹10 lakh each to the families of the 11 victims who lost their lives.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Secured the IPL Trophy for the First Time
Royal Challengers Bengaluru clinched their maiden IPL title on June 3, defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Following the win, the franchise announced its victory celebrations in Bengaluru.
The next day, the team was honoured at the Vidhana Soudha by the Karnataka Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. However, the Bengaluru Police denied permission for an open-bus parade.
Despite that, around 250,000 fans gathered outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to celebrate with the team. The overwhelming crowd led to a stampede that tragically claimed 11 lives and left several others injured.
Retired Judge to Lead Bengaluru Stampede Probe as FIRs Target RCB, KSCA
In response to the tragedy, the Karnataka High Court had also formed a retired judge-led commission to investigate the incident. FIRs were filed against RCB and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also directed the Bengaluru Police to take action against those responsible, including officials from RCB and event management firm DNA Entertainment.
On June 6, police arrested RCB’s Head of Marketing and Revenue, Nikhil Sosale, along with two officials from DNA. All three were granted bail a week later, with Sosale instructed to surrender his passport and refrain from international travel.
Meanwhile, KSCA Secretary A. Shankar and Treasurer E.S. Jairam resigned, citing moral responsibility for the tragedy. RCB faced sharp criticism for rushing their victory celebrations, which many believe contributed to the chaos.
