The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will discuss associate membership for the Cricket Association of Andaman and Nicobar Islands at its 95th Annual General Meeting. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has informed member associations that the meeting will take place on September 18, 2026, in Mumbai.

The BCCI headquarters will host the meeting from 11:30 AM IST. The agenda includes elections for the IPL Governing Council, approval of the financial budget, and appointments to national selection committees. Notably, the BCCI Annual General Meeting is a key event on the board’s administrative calendar.

BCCI to Consider Associate Membership for Andaman and Nicobar Islands

The BCCI will consider granting associate membership to the Cricket Association of Andaman & Nicobar Islands at its 95th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai on September 18. The proposal was discussed at an earlier Apex Council meeting and will now go before the General Body for consideration and approval.

If approved, the association will enter the BCCI fold but will not receive voting rights. The move would create a pathway for the Union Territory to become part of India’s domestic cricket structure, which currently features 38 teams in BCCI-approved competitions.

The BCCI is expected to develop cricket infrastructure and organize matches across the islands if the proposal receives approval. However, an Andaman & Nicobar Islands team is unlikely to enter domestic tournaments, but the board will develop local players and the cricketing setup.

BCCI to Hold IPL Governing Council Elections and Appoint ICC Representative

The BCCI will hold elections for 2 General Body representatives to the IPL Governing Council at its September 18 AGM. The board will also induct 1 representative from the Indian Cricketers’ Association into the governing body.

Member associations must submit applications for their representatives by August 31. The BCCI will release the draft electoral roll on September 1 and accept nominations on September 9 and September 10 between 11 AM and 4 PM.

The BCCI will announce the list of contesting candidates on September 12 and conduct the elections on September 18. The board will also appoint India’s representative or representatives to the ICC. The AGM will also consider the BCCI’s audited financial accounts for FY 2025-26 and approve the annual budget for FY 2026-27.

BCCI to Appoint 5-Member Junior Selection Committee

The BCCI will take up the appointment of a new 5-member Junior Cricket Committee at its 95th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai on September 18. Notably, the board invited applications for all 5 positions and set September 5 as the deadline for candidates to submit their applications.

The BCCI will screen and shortlist the applicants before conducting personal interviews. Following the selection process, the board will finalize the committee and place the appointments before the AGM for formal ratification.

The AGM may also bring clarity on the future of senior selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar. Reports have suggested that Agarkar could step down, with the BCCI potentially considering another former India cricketer for the chief selector’s position.
