The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) electoral officer, AK Joti, has “verified” and overruled some objections from Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) members regarding the nomination of Roger Binny as the association’s representative to the BCCI AGM, clearing the way for the former India cricketer to be elected as the president of the BCCI.

At the BCCI AGM on October 18, Roger Binny, who is the only candidate running for president, will be officially proclaimed elected.

Some KSCA members, obviously AM Ramamurthy and N Shripathi, had brought into question the authority of the association’s managing committee to nominate/appoint representatives to take part in the BCCI election and AGM. Because Binny’s nomination was invalid because the managing committee’s term had ended on October 3, they objected. Additionally, it was noted that neither the AGM nor the KSCA elections had been called by the managing committee.

The electoral officer rejected the objection, stating, “Upon verification with KSCA, it was discovered that KSCA has submitted representations to the Office of District Registrar of Societies via Letters dated 12 September 2022 and 14 September 2022 seeking permission to conduct the AGM and Election on or before 31 December 2022.

Roger Binny as Representative of KSCA is found to be complete in all aspects:

The KSCA has been given permission by the Office of District Registrar of Societies to hold the AGM and Elections on or before December 31, 2022, according to a letter dated 19 September 2022″ Joti Added.

“Furthermore, KSCA submitted a nomination application. It is determined that Mr. Roger Binny’s nomination to be the KSCA representative is complete in every way. The objections are dismissed in light of the aforementioned Facts.”

The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) and the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) both faced similar criticisms. Before removing Mohammad Azharuddin and Rajeev Shukla’s names from contention, the electoral officer looked into the complaints. Both of them will attend the AGM as representatives of their respective associations. The objections are rejected, Joti stated, “considering the facts stated above.”

The electoral officer encouraged any dissent against any nominated representative of a state association before finalizing the electoral rolls for the BCCI election, and it was stated that the final list of the rolls would only be published after verifying any objections. This was part of the process that the electoral officer started.
