Piyush Chawla praises MI's depth after dominant win over LSG
After the match, the former Indian spinner Piyush Chawla praised MI’s depth, highlighting the number of match-winners in their squad. The former Mumbai Indians spinner has pointed out that each player, from top to bottom, has the potential to turn the game around, as he highlighted the impact of players like Ryan Rickelton, Rohit Sharma, Bumrah, and Will Jacks.

Piyush Chawla said on JioHotstar, “If you see the number of match winners the Mumbai Indians have in their squad, you start right from the beginning till number 11. Ryan Rickelton—the knock that he played today—we know Rohit Sharma, what he has done in the last two games. Today, Bumrah had the ball, Will Jacks came in, and he provided those two crucial wickets.”
Piyush Chawla warns the other teams to be wary of MI
Chawla credited the team's all-around performance for their thrilling win over LSG. He also pointed out that everything seems to be falling into place for MI, with Hardik Pandya’s leadership playing a key role in their resurgence. With so many players stepping up in crucial moments, Chawla believes that the other IPL teams should be wary when MI is on a roll.
He signed off by saying, “So, I think things are falling in place; whatever Hardik is doing, it’s happening for the team, and that’s what this team is all about. You have so many match winners in that playing XI. Jasprit Bumrah came in as an impact player, and what an impact he has left on the game! So that’s why this team is on a roll, and when the Mumbai Indians are on a roll, every other team should be scared of them.”
Notably, Mumbai Indians will now face the struggling Rajasthan Royals team at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 1 in their next IPL 2025 clash. The Royals have been poor this season, winning only two of their nine games so far in the tournament.
