“Beggars can’t be choosers”: Mohsin Naqvi brutally trolled as Andy Pycroft remains match referee for Pakistan’s game

PCB and the Pakistan National Cricket Team faced massive trolling after agreeing to play the match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) National Cricket Team after their initial rejection.

Things have been quite chaotic at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) since they faced utter humiliation in the Asia Cup 2025 match against arch-rivals India.

India showed Pakistan their place by destroying them to register a dominant 7-wicket victory and refused to shake hands with the Salman Agha & Co.

This left Pakistan embarrassed, and PCB filed an official complaint with the ICC, putting the entire blame on match referee Andy Pycroft for the no-handshake row.

Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB demanded the removal of Andy Pycroft as a match referee from the Asia Cup 2025 or even for the remainder of the matches involving Pakistan, with Richie Richardson officiating their matches.

However, ICC bluntly rejected PCB's demand, and in response, Mohsin Naqvi & Co. ordered the players not to travel to the ground for the must-win match against the UAE and stay put in the hotel.

Mohsin Naqvi called for an urgent meeting in Pakistan, which included the likes of Ramiz Raja, Najam Sethi, and Aaqib Javed. After the discussions, PCB was forced to climb down from its pullout threat and head to the stadium for the Asia Cup 2025 match.

The PCB urged the players to quickly travel to the ground, but there was a one-hour delay in the match between Pakistan and the UAE at the Dubai International Stadium.

To add to their embarrassment, Andy Pycroft is set to officiate the game, and this was communicated to PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi by ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta in a conference call. The ICC maintained that Pycroft will remain in charge as he has followed the rules and regulations to the 'T'.

Also, ICC issued a sharp rebuttal to shoot down PCB's demands, and now the Mohsin Naqvi-led board is celebrating the apology issued by Andy Pycroft over the fiasco.
