It will be a surprise if Ben Stokes does not feature in the upcoming season of the Big Bash League (BBL). This is what Tom Morris, a 7Cricket journalist, said on air during his commentary job in Darwin for the Test match between Australia and Bangladesh. Sydney Sixers and multiple other BBL franchises are claimed to be in the race to take Stokes on board.
Since retiring from the England National Cricket Team, eyes are on Stokes as he can now join any franchise league, as he is now free from national cricket team commitments. Australia T20 League and the BBL have emerged as the next stage where the experienced pace-bowling all-rounder can make a move.
At least three BBL franchises are behind Ben Stokes
Tom Morris, through his comments and later via an 'X' post, offered details about Stokes' potential path to the future. According to the journalist's claims, the Sydney Sixers are set to offer their best to sign the former England captain, as are a few other BBL teams.
Stokes may not be able to feature in the BBL season, but still, franchises are highly interested in him. Melbourne Renegades, Sixers, and Adelaide Strikers are keen on Stokes, and they are set to invest heavily in him. However, nothing has been finalized yet.
Finn Allen and Adam Zampa are also among the hot prospects ahead of the next Big Bash League season
In the social media post, the journalist also made it clear that a few other well-known faces have intensified the market ahead of the next Big Bash League campaign.
Swashbuckling New Zealand opener Finn Allen is linked up with the Melbourne Stars, and for the star Australian spinner Adam Zampa, Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat have shown their interest. Later next week, suspensions over some possible deals are expected to be lifted.

It will be interesting to see which, or whether any, BBL franchises could convince Ben Stokes for his second stint in the league.
"Ben Stokes is the name on the lips of many clubs. So the Sixers are all in for Stokes. The Strikers are all in for Stokes, and I believe one other club is as well. And I also believe that he's keen to come out. Albeit not for the entire Big Bash, because he'll have some other commitments, but it would now be a real surprise to the people I speak to if Ben Stokes isn't playing Big Bash this summer, which is a huge coup," the journalist said during the Australia vs Bangladesh Test match.
"So there's a marquee player pool of around 1.35 to 1.375 million dollars to sign four players. Now, one of those players has to be overseas, and one has to be Australian, but it gives more scope for a club like the Strikers or a club like the Sixers to go and get Ben Stokes and see what he can do," he added.
