Ben Stokes creates history: Full list of records from his iconic Manchester Test performance

England National Cricket Team captain Ben Stokes has scripted history with his unbelievable all-round performance in the ongoing fourth Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.

Ben Stokes shone both with the bat and ball and made the India National Cricket Team look clueless in the fourth Test at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Ben Stokes becomes the first England captain with 100 and 5-fer in the same Test

Stokes delivered one of his most iconic performances in Test cricket in Manchester. First, with the ball, he gave it all on the field and bagged a sensational 5-wicket haul to stun Team India.

Stokes was breathing fire as he bowled 24 overs and conceded 72 runs while dismissing Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Shardul Thakur, Washington Sundar, and Anshul Kamboj.

Then, he displayed his best batting in the Test format in a long time. He batted cautiously on Day 3 and, despite battling cramps, hit a terrific fifty.

Stokes returned to the crease after getting retired hurt and on Day 4, demolished the Indian bowling unit. The England skipper hit a terrific ton, and after achieving the milestone, he played an attacking brand of cricket, finishing with 141 runs off 198 balls.

With this performance, Stokes became the first England captain to make a century and take a five-wicket haul in the same Test. He also became the third cricketer with a double of 7000 runs and 200 wickets in Tests and the fourth Englishman with a century and a five-wicket haul in the same Test.

All-round excellence from one of England's greatest all-rounders - Michael Atherton

Speaking on Sky Sports, former England skipper Michael Atherton hailed Ben Stokes as one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of English cricket. He said:

"Huge cheer for Ben Stokes. All-round excellence from one of England's greatest all-rounders. Five wickets in this match and now a Test hundred too, his first for a couple of years, since the 2023 Ashes against Australia at Lord's - so it's been quite a wait, and you can see what it means to him.

"He's the leading wicket-taker in the series, won Player of the Match in the last Test at Lord's. You just feel that his all-round game is coming together now."

Speaking on BBC Test Match Special, former England skipper Michael Vaughan was delighted to see Stokes hit a ton after a long time. He said:

"You can tell from the celebrations by Ben Stokes that this means a huge amount. An absolute trojan of a cricketer, he's incredible but it has been a while since he got a hundred. He has had to work and work and he's found a flow here. Things are coming together nicely for England."
