England National Cricket Team skipper Ben Stokes has returned to the nets just two weeks after he suffered a hamstring injury. The all-rounder batted in the nets at Old Trafford in Manchester, where the first Test against Sri Lanka is underway.
Ben Stokes, who is touted as one of the most passionate cricketers in the world, suffered an unfortunate injury ahead of the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. The Test captain injured himself during the recently concluded The Hundred League.
Ben Stokes, who played for Northern Superchargers, while playing against Manchester Originals clutched his hamstring as he attempted to take a quick single. The Test captain fell to the ground and needed assistance to get up. He then returned to the team dugout, using crutches to walk.
Stokes then underwent scans which revealed that he had suffered a bad injury and wouldn't be able to take the field. The hamstring injury ruled the all-rounder out of both the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka and the entire English summer.
Although ruled out of the Tests against Sri Lanka, Stokes has stayed with the team in the dressing room. He has been passing on his inputs to the team and has been keenly watching the game along with the coaching staff of the team.
However, before Day 4 of the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka, the skipper was seen batting in the nets. The left-hander played some gorgeous drives and didn't look in pain as he played the shots.
