Ben Stokes Pulls Out Of IPL 2024

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Ben Stokes has made himself for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). The England Test captain took the decision to manage his workload and fitness.

Ben Stokes became part of Chennai Super Kings last year when he was acquired for a whopping price of INR 16.25 crore. He, however, didn’t play the majority of the tournament because of the injury. The all-rounder had a knee issue and it was a great setback for the team.

Ben Stokes took the decision to make himself unavailable for the IPL because he will be part of the five-match Test series against India. After the series, IPL 2024 will be played, and post that T20 World Cup 2024 will be played in June 2024 in the Carribean and USA.

Ben Stokes recently was part of the England squad for the ICC World Cup 2023. He played a crucial role for the team and helped them qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025. He also slammed one ton and was by far the best batter from his team in the tournament.

Chennai Super Kings released the official statement, stating:  England Test captain, all-rounder Ben Stokes has made himself unavailable for IPL 2024 to manage his workload and fitness. The Chennai Super Kings management is supportive of Ben in his decision to manage his workload with England playing a 5-Test series in India before the IPL and then the T20 World Cup in June 2024.”

Ben Stokes made his debut in the IPL 2017 when he was picked by Rising Pune Supergiant at a record price of INR 14.5 crore. He made an immediate impact in the season as he slammed a ton. He picked 12 wickets during that season. After that, he moved to Rajasthan Royals where he played several seasons before eventually being acquired by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the IPL 2023 season.

Ben Stokes so far has played 45 games in the IPL and in that he has scored 935 runs at a strike rate of over 133. The batter has also smashed 3 half-centuries and 3 centuries in the tournament. With the ball, he has picked 28 wickets with the best of 3/15.
