Bhuvneshwar Kumar becomes first cricketer in world to achieve this stunning milestone
Royal Challengers Bengaluru's ace pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is arguably enjoying the best form of his IPL career in almost a decade.
In IPL 2026, he has been an extremely important part of RCB, currently being second on the points table. With his incisive bowling in both the powerplay and the death overs, 'Bhuvi' has been one of the standout players of IPL 2026.
With 17 wickets from 9 matches, he also holds the Purple Cap. Now, he has added another feather to his cap by achieving a significant milestone.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar's performance against GT
Against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on April 30, RCB started their innings strongly in the powerplay, but collapsed really hard in the middle and death overs, eventually being bowled out for just 155.
Bhuvneshwar contributed a run-a-ball 15 to keep RCB's batters fighting towards the end. He then prised out GT's famous top three of Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler but could not prevent GT from winning the match.
During his 3-wicket haul, he became the first Indian pace bowler to reach a significant milestone.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar's milestone
During the match against GT, Bhuvneshwar completed the milestone of 350 wickets in all T20 cricket. Among Indian bowlers, he was only the second player to reach this milestone and the first among Indian fast bowlers.
Most wickets by an Indian bowler in all T20s
Yuzvendra Chahal is the only Indian bowler with more T20 wickets than Bhuvneshwar. The following table lists the top five Indian bowlers with the most wickets in the 20-over format.
| Player Name | Matches | Wicktes | Economy | 4+-wicket hauls |
| Yuzvendra Chahal | 337 | 391 | 7.77 | 14 |
| Bhuvneshwar Kumar | 325 | 352 | 7.35 | 10 |
| Jasprit Bumrah | 329 | 347 | 6.96 | 6 |
| Piyush Chawla | 305 | 327 | 7.56 | 5 |
| Ravichandran Ashwin | 333 | 317 | 7.11 | 4 |
Ever since the IPL's inception, Bhuvneshwar has been one of its most reliable bowlers, especially in the powrplay phase. No bowler has more wickets in the powerplay in IPL history than him.
No bowler has bowled more dot balls than Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the history of the IPL either.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar in IPL 2026
Currently, Bhuvi holds the Purple Cap with 17 wickets in 9 matches in IPL 2026. He has also excelled at the other aspects of bowling in this year's IPL.
Bhuvneshwar's bowling average of 15.06 is the best out of any bowler with at least 10 wickets in the tournament. His economy rate of 7.53 is the best out of all pace bowlers who have bowled at least 20 overs in IPL 2026.
RCB's next match
After the loss to Gujarat, RCB have been given a one-week break in the schedule, which may work in their favour. They will face Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on May 7.
RCB have already beaten the 10-placed LSG once before this season - at Bengaluru. Considering these factors, the defending champions may look to go back to winning ways.
