In a tragic development, Indian seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s father passed away on Thursday, May 20.
Bhuvneshwar’s father, Kiran Pal Singh, who was sub-inspector with the Uttar Pradesh police, breathed his last at a hospital in Meerut on Thursday following a long battle with cancer. He was 63.
The tragic demise of Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s father is yet another edition in the list of parents lost by Indian cricketers in recent times.
In the past month, the likes of RP Singh, Piyush Chawla have lost their respective father due to the Wuhan virus.
Not only men cricketers, but Indian women cricketers have also lost their parent(s) due to the ongoing pandemic.
While Veda Krishnamurthy has lost her mother and sister, Priya Punia recently lost her mother.
As for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the tragedy comes at a time when he is at the crossroads as far as his international career is concerned.
The Indian seamer, who made a comeback to the national team during the T20I and ODI series back in March, had a disappointing IPL campaign where he was once again sidelined due to injury.
Kumar was recently overlooked for the upcoming Test summer in England due to his recurring injury issues but he is likely to feature in the forthcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka in July.
