The India National Cricket Team had a poor start to their chase of 259 runs against the England National Cricket Team in the three-match ODI series opener at Edgbaston on July 14. After Rohit Sharma’s cheap dismissal, Virat Kohli also failed to deliver with the bat on his much-awaited India comeback.

The England National Cricket Team got a huge wicket on the ninth over of the India National Cricket Team’s chase as Jofra Archer dismissed Kohli for just 5 runs in the first ODI at Edgbaston. Amid this, Rohit Sharma playfully kicks Dinesh Karthik during Edgbaston reunion with Virat Kohli.

Jofra Archer stuns Virat Kohli with perfect LBW trap at Edgbaston

Jofra Archer has cleverly set up Virat Kohli’s dismissal at Edgbaston. After bowling a short delivery, the England speedster followed it with a full and straight ball aimed at the stumps.

Kohli tried to play a flick shot towards the leg side by moving across his stumps. However, the former Indian captain completely missed the ball, and it struck him right in front of the middle stump. Amid this, Rohit Sharma playfully kicks Dinesh Karthik during Edgbaston reunion with Virat Kohli.

The England players immediately appealed, and the umpire raised his finger without any hesitation, giving Kohli out LBW. The dashing right-hander had a brief discussion with Shubman Gill about taking the Decision Review System (DRS), but he eventually decided against it.

Kohli knew the ball was clearly going on to hit the stumps, so there was little chance of overturning the decision. As a result, he had to walk back to the pavilion after scoring 5 runs from 6 balls. Following his poor dismissal, fans started mocking Kohli, with some calling him a liability.

Here's how fans react to Virat Kohli's dismissal:

Virat Kohli's historic 300th ODI ends in disappointment against England

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli reached a massive milestone during the first ODI against England by playing his 300th ODI for India. With this achievement, Kohli became the 22nd cricketer in the world and only the seventh Indian player to feature in 300 or more ODIs.

He joined an elite list of Indian legends that includes Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly, and Yuvraj Singh to achieve this milestone.

Kohli also created another unique record by becoming the first cricketer in the history of international cricket to play 300 or more ODIs, 100 or more Test matches, and 100 or more T20Is. Earlier, he missed the ODI series against Afghanistan at home due to a hamstring issue.

And that’s why fans were excited to see Kohli back in blue. However, it was an off day for the stylish batter as he failed to deliver on his comeback against England, thanks to Jofra’s trick.
