Things have turned sour between Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) issue is now getting bigger day by day.
The controversy began when Blessing Muzarabani decided not to turn up for Islamabad United in the ongoing PSL 2026 and instead joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the ongoing IPL 2026 in India.
Blessing Muzarabani banned for two years after PSL exit drama
This move did not sit well with the Pakistan Cricket Board, as Muzarabani has been handed a two-year ban from the Pakistan Super League. This means he will not be able to play in the PSL until 2029, which is a big setback for the Zimbabwe fast bowler.
Actually, Muzarabani was picked by Islamabad United as the replacement of West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph. However, before the start of the PSL 2026, Muzarabani decided to pull out. He got an offer from KKR in the IPL and chose to go there instead.

This call forced the PCB to take action. The board felt that once a player agrees to play in the Pakistan Super League, he should stay committed. They believe such actions can affect the league’s system and create problems in the future, and that's why they banned him for two years.
Blessing Muzarabani seeks PSL ban reversal from PCB
Now, Blessing Muzarabani’s agent has slammed the PCB for not handling the matter properly. He revealed that Islamabad United had announced the player’s signing, but there was no official contract signed between the two parties at that time.
He also explained that when KKR approached Muzarabani, there was still no proper agreement in place with Islamabad United. Because of this, the Zimbabwe fast bowler felt he was free to choose another opportunity, and that is how he moved to the IPL 2026.
The agent is now asking the Pakistan Cricket Board and Pakistan Super League to remove the ban, as they believe the punishment is too harsh without having knowledge of the whole situation.

Here’s the timeline of the real story:
- On 13 February 2026, Blessing Muzarabani was approached by Islamabad United for PSL 2026.
- Both sides agreed in principle, but it depended on getting an NOC from Zimbabwe Cricket.
- An NOC can only be given after a proper contract is signed, but no contract was provided at that time.
- Despite no paperwork being completed, Islamabad United and the PSL announced his signing on social media.
- By 27 February 2026, Muzarabani still had not received any official contract from the PSL or the team.
- Around the same time, Kolkata Knight Riders offered him a deal.
- Since there was no signed contract with PSL, he accepted the IPL offer and joined KKR.
- He was also not picked in the PSL auction and had no formal agreement with the league.
- His side is saying clearly that without a contract, there was nothing to break.
We urge the PSL to gracefully withdraw the ban: Blessing Muzarabani's Agent
In a mail sent to the PCB, the agent wrote, "We've remained quiet publicly over the last 6 weeks because we did not wish to create or cause any more animosity for the Pakistan Super League/Pakistan Cricket Board than they had already created for themselves. However, due to the voluminous and disgusting nature of criticism directed at Blessing via social media, I will no longer stay silent.

Blessing loves the fans. Everywhere he goes he engages with the public and is generous with his time for the fans. I have seen this gentle giant mature into an exceptional man as well as a world-class cricketer. However, to the so-called "fans" that fill his social media DMs with vile hatred, you are an utter disgrace to humanity, and you are cowards.”
The statement added, “We feel ANY ban on participation in the PSL is incredibly excessive and is not consistent with the punishment given to players that have actually breached a contract in the past. I have never seen a player so publicly admonished and criticized for doing nothing wrong. We urge the PSL to gracefully withdraw the ban and accept this situation for what it is, an administrative error at their end, nothing more. We bare no grudges toward the PSL/Islamabad United.”
