India National Cricket Team are currently in Sri Lanka for the white-ball tour. The T20I series between the teams is underway, as two games have already taken place, and the last match of the series between the teams will be taking place on Tuesday (30th June).
Following the T20I series, it will be time for the three-match ODI series, which will begin on 2nd August. The players who are part of the 50-over games, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, have reached Sri Lanka and have linked up with the squad for the three games.
The Rohit Sharma-led squad was scheduled to have their first practice session on Monday (29th June). However, the weather gods didn't allow them to train. As per the senior journalist Vimal Kumar, the practice session of the ODI team got canceled due to heavy rain and a wet outfield.
The first game of the ODI series between the teams will begin on 2nd August. The second game of the series will be taking place on the 4th of August, followed by the last match to be played on the 7th of August. All three games will be played at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and will start at 2:30 PM IST.
The ODI series will mark the preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 for the India National cricket team. The tournament will be played in Pakistan next year and with India not scheduled to play many ODIs before that, the three games against Sri Lanka will be a great opportunity for them to get into the groove.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who retired from the T20Is, will be focusing on ODIs and Tests now. The upcoming series against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team will be the first time that they will be seen in action after the T20 World Cup 2024, which concluded on 29th June.
Rohit Sharma-led Indian team will be working under the new management. It will also be the first time that Gautam Gambhir will be working with senior players. The former India skipper was recently appointed as the head coach of the team after the T20 World Cup 2024.
India win the T20I series against Sri Lanka
India National Cricket Team have won the three-match T20I series. Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, the Men in Blue have been sensational. They won two back-to-back games and took an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series.
India were top-notch with the bat and ball in the first T20I. They posted 213 runs on the board while batting first. After that, they came under a lot of pressure, but the bowlers staged a magnificent comeback and helped the team win the game by 43 runs.
In the second game, they bowled well upfront and restricted Sri Lanka to 161 runs. With the target revised to 78 in 8 overs, India chased the target in 6.3 overs and won the game by 7 wickets and would now be keen to complete the white-wash.
