Bollywood actor and philanthropist, Sonu Sood has decided to help the young and budding cricketers in India, especially in small towns. The talented actor has projected an initiative to set up a pan-India platform to promote young emerging cricketers.

Sonu Sood has been in news for all the good reasons in the past year. The country was hit severely by the covid-19 pandemic, and a massive number of people were left stranded away from home after the lockdown was announced.

He arranged transport facilities for lakhs of migrant workers and students to reach their homes as no public transport was available during the lockdown. He provided workers and poor people with masks and face shields. Not only that, but Sonu Sood also arranged for chartered flights to airlift the Indian students stranded abroad. He earned the nickname of ‘Messiah’ for his charitable works.

I always dreamt of becoming a cricketer: Sonu Sood

Sonu Sood, like millions in the country, also wished to become a cricketer and represent India – however, was denied by the lack of opportunities. But with his latest enterprise of helping nurture young talents in the country, the 47-year-old hopes to re-ignite his passion and love of the game.

As quoted by IANS, Sonu Sood said, “I always dreamt of becoming a cricketer but I didn’t have a platform in our small town, but when I see all these young kids playing cricket it feels really good.”

Born in Moga, Punjab, Sood doesn’t get much time to play cricket owing to his busy schedule. However, the much-adored actor says that everyone should play some kind of sport to keep themselves fit.

“I like batting as well as bowling but I didn’t get much time to play the sport. I feel we all should take some out from our busy work schedules and reinvent our passion. Sometimes when you see these kids playing not just cricket but any kind of sports, you feel motivated to follow them,” he added.

The ‘Dabangg’ movie actor revealed that he has had discussions with Cricfit founder Mikkail Vaswani on organizing platforms on a pan-India level where children can explore their skills and enjoy the sports. Sonu Sood will soon be seen in ‘Prithviraj’ alongside Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, and Manushi Chhillar.
