Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Tamim Iqbal has said that the proposed white-ball series against India is still under discussion. The former skipper also addressed the controversy surrounding the 2026 T20 World Cup, saying the situation was not handled properly by the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Bilateral relations between the two boards became strained after the BCCI directed Kolkata Knight Riders to release Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman from their IPL 2026 squad. Bangladesh subsequently raised security concerns about playing their T20 World Cup matches in India and were replaced by Scotland.
Both Boards Are Very Sincere - Tamim Iqbal Says India Series Still On
Tamim Iqbal has confirmed that the proposed white-ball series between Bangladesh and India remains under discussion. Speaking to sports platform Not Out Noman, the BCB president said that both boards are looking for a new window for the three ODIs and three T20Is.
“That it (India series) won't happen hasn't been decided yet. Still, let me give a quick piece of information. Both boards are very sincere that this thing happens. Both BCCI and BCB and we are looking at windows as well, which time what can be done."
"Roughly a date, around which we are also thinking whether it can be done at this time or not. If I saw the intention was negative, then today I wouldn't even have said this word to you, 'Let's see what happens, we're hopeful.' I wouldn't have even said this word. Intentions are very positive.”

Tamim Iqbal also explained that some factors are beyond the BCB's control but insisted that discussions are continuing. He noted that Bangladesh have three series in between, while India's schedule is also packed.
“There are certain things that are beyond our control. And I never want to cross that line as BCB president, okay? But intentions are good, we are continuously communicating."
"Dates are also being figured out, because Bangladesh is also busy, they are also busy. Bangladesh has three series in between. They also, India, BCCI stay very busy with their matches. But we are having a regular discussion regarding this,” he added.
Tamim Iqbal Opens Up on Bangladesh's T20 World Cup Fiasco
Tamim Iqbal spoke about Bangladesh's withdrawal from the 2026 T20 World Cup. He admitted that Bangladesh could have handled the negotiations much better and said the situation reached a point of no return too early.
Bangladesh had asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to move their matches out of India after the controversy involving Mustafizur Rahman and Kolkata Knight Riders during IPL 2026. The ICC rejected the request, and Bangladesh were replaced by Scotland in the tournament.
“I feel we probably could have dealt with it better. We went to a point of no return right from the beginning. There were a lot of things said and done during those negotiations, which, if I make public, you will be surprised. I won't be able to do it because I come back to that fact, I need to maintain that respect. You will be surprised at what things were said, but let's not go into that discussion.”
