Taylor claims the record, surpassing Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. Only Sachin was ahead of Brendan Taylor in the list of records. Brendan Taylor, who is now 40, is playing for the Zimbabwe cricket team in an ongoing 50-over match against the Australian national cricket team.

According to Cricinfo stats, Taylor's ODI career marks an existence for 22 years and 148 days, while Sachin Tendulkar represented the Indian cricket team, perticularly in this format of 22 years and 91 days. Sri Lankan cricket legend and their former opener Sanath Jayasuriya is also in the elite list for playing in ODIs for 21 years and 184 days.
