Brydon Carse charged by Cricket Regulator over Derby incident

Brydon Carse has been charged under ECB rules for allegedly behaving improperly during an incident in Derby on August 23, 2026. His case will now go to an independent panel, which will decide whether his conduct broke cricket's rules or harmed the reputation of the sport.

The Regulator said in a statement on Friday: “Following a Cricket Regulator investigation, Brydon Carse has been charged with breaching Regulation 3.2 of the ECB Professional Conduct Regulations in relation to events in Derby in the early hours of the morning on August 23, 2026. The matter will now be referred to the independent Cricket Discipline Panel for adjudication. As the process is ongoing, no further comment will be made.”

ECB breaks silence on Brydon Carse charge

Meanwhile, the ECB has acknowledged the charge against Brydon Carse and said he will now get a chance to respond through the official process. The board will not make further comments for now because it does not want to influence or assume the outcome of the case.

An ECB spokesperson said in a statement: “The ECB said it would not comment further. We are aware of the Cricket Regulator's decision to charge Brydon Carse. Brydon now has the opportunity to respond through the established process. As we do not wish to prejudge the outcome, it would not be appropriate for us to comment further.”

Brydon Carse's career hit by controversy

Carse was dropped for the second Test against Pakistan at Lord's and has not played for England since. He was also not selected for England's T20I and ODI matches against Sri Lanka. Carse was once again left out of England's squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series in Pakistan.
