Just a day ahead of the IPL-2026-Mini-Auction, the mock auction conducted by the official IPL hosts, Star Sports, marked the likes of Cameron Green going as high as INR 30.50 crore and the released CSK star Matheesha Pathirana going in the Kolkata Knight Riders' bag.
The Star Sports-conducted IPL mock auction marked several startling moves. The auction featured several cricket experts representing the 10 different teams in the IPL. While the Rajasthan Royals were represented by Aakash Chopra, Sanjay Bangar, and Cheteshwar Pujara represented PBKS and GT, respectively.
Abhinav Mukund represented MI with the lowest purse, and Irfan Pathan held onto LSG. Suresh Raina bid for his former side, the Chennai Super Kings, and so did Anil Kumble for RCB. Robin Uthappa had the biggest purse to spend with KKR, and Mohammad Kaif and S. Badrinath represented the Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Camron Green ropes in a whopping bid in IPL mock auction
The live coverage of the mock auction started with huge anticipation around the English players, as several brute talents of the shortest format were up for grabs. Even the former cricketers looked super excited to bid for the players in the mock auctions. These auctions give a rough idea of the teams interested in the bids on the particular players.
The auction started with disappointment for former CSK batter Devon Conway, as he went unsold. Indian batter Prithvi Shaw followed him in the list and was bought by DC for INR 2.75 crores after he went unsold last season in the original mega-auction.
The third name on the list is probably the most anticipated player of the upcoming mini-auction. Australia all-rounder Cameron Green makes his way back to the Indian Premier League after missing out on the last season due to injury.
CSK and KKR, the two teams with the highest purse, were all set to go hard for the big all-rounder. Cameron Green's bidding war between the two sides surpassed Rishabh Pant's 27 crore mark, and he was ultimately sold for a whopping price of INR 30.50 crores to the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Venkatesh Iyer marks the biggest reduction in price tag in IPL history
Jake Fraser-McGurk was sold to the Punjab Kings for 2 crores, followed by a big buy for the Delhi Capitals in the form of Protea middle-order batter David Miller. Miller for an INR 9.5 crores can be significant to DC's lower-order troubles.
Suresh Raina looked the smartest of the lot as he bought Sarfaraz Khan for CSK and then bid for Sri Lanka leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga and spent just 9 crores for the pair. He later made another quirky, smart pick in the form of spinner Rahul Chahar for a whopping 10 crores.
Venkatesh Iyer, the third costliest player of the IPL 2025 mega-auction who was released by the Kolkata Knight Riders, saw a mammoth drop in his salary. He was bought for just 6 crores by RCB and saw a 17.75 crore cut in salary.
These 5 players earned the highest bid in the mock auction
Among many other significant bids, Liam Livingstone remained the second-highest with an INR 19 crore grab for the Lucknow Super Giants. KKR and GT got themselves a wicket-keeper each in the form of English duo Jonny Bairstow and Jamie Smith for INR 2.5 and 2 crores.
Badrinath made his first bid for SRH in the form of Akash Deep, while Anrich Nortje also went in with CSK for INR 7.5 crores. Matheesha Pathirana went to crores. KKR, owing to their high purse, while Gerald Coetzee was taken in by SRH for a whopping 8 crores.
Ravi Bishnoi, for 11.50 crore, was the only bid for Aakash Chopra representing the Rajasthan Royals, while Lungi Ngidi and Chetan Sakariya went for INR 6.5 crore each to the DC and RCB teams, respectively.
