Canada have secured their spot in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, becoming the 13th team to qualify for the 20-team event. The Canadian cricket team sealed their place with a dominant seven-wicket win over the Bahamas in the Americas regional qualifying final in Ontario on June 22 (Local Time).
Canada finished unbeaten in the Americas regional qualifiers. Their fifth consecutive victory confirmed their position at the top of the table. Canada entered the tournament as one of the favourites, having featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies, and the team lived up to expectations.

Canada have become the 13th team to qualify for the T20 World Cup. India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the USA, the West Indies, Ireland, New Zealand, and Pakistan have already qualified for the 20-team tournament.
"Seven more teams -- two from Europe Qualifier (to be played from July 5-11, 2025), two from Africa Qualifier (to be played from September 19 to October 4) and three from Asia-EAP Qualifier (to be played from October 1-17) -- will join the Men's T20 World Cup through the Regional Qualifiers," said ICC in a statement.
Canada made their maiden appearance in the Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024, where they managed to register a single victory against Ireland during the group stage.
Canada Seal Top Spot with Unbeaten Run in Americas T20 World Cup Qualifiers
Canada, led by Nicholas Kirton, enjoyed a dominant run in the Americas regional qualifiers for the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, winning all five of their matches to secure a top-place finish.
Their campaign began with a massive 110-run win over Bermuda, followed by a 59-run victory against the Cayman Islands and a 10-wicket thrashing of the Bahamas. Canada posted 82 and won comfortably by 42 runs in a five-over contest in their second meeting with the Cayman Islands.
They then defeated the Bahamas again, this time by seven wickets with 87 balls to spare. With a balanced squad, Canada sealed qualification for the 2026 T20 World Cup and will aim to carry their momentum into the global event. Their final match in the qualifiers is against Bermuda on June 22.
Canada Thrash Bahamas to Maintain Unbeaten Streak in Americas qualifiers
Canada’s bowlers dominated from the start after opting to bowl first against the Bahamas. Kaleem Sana and Shivam Sharma each took three wickets to dismiss the Bahamas for just 57 runs. Ansh Patel and Saad Bin Zafar chipped in with two and one wicket, respectively.
The Bahamas struggled throughout their innings, with only Javelle Gallimore (14*) and Jonathan Barry (10) reaching double digits. Canada chased down the target in just 5.3 overs.
Dilpreet Bajwa scored an unbeaten 36 off 14 balls, sealing a comprehensive win and maintaining their unbeaten record in the Americas qualifiers.
