Indian bowling unit failed in the 1st Test

The surface at Headingley for the first Test match between India and England was a great one to bat on, and the batters of both teams scored plenty of runs.

Indian bowling unit was carried by Jasprit Bumrah in the first innings as the pace spearhead bagged a sensational 5-wicket haul despite not receiving much support from the others.

Bumrah restricted the English batters from scoring at a quick pace, and he also bagged wickets, but did not receive the desired support from his fellow teammates.

Although Prasidh Krishna picked up three wickets in the innings, he was very expensive, conceding 128 runs in 20 overs at an economy of 6.40, and Mohammed Siraj bagged two wickets.

In the second innings, England batters successfully managed to neutralize the threat of Jasprit Bumrah while chasing 371 runs and guaranteed themselves a win.

Premier pacers Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj both went wicketless while defending the score, and even though Prasidh Krishna (2/92), Shardul Thakur (51/2), and Ravindra Jadeja (1/104) picked up wickets, they were quite expensive.

We are learning from each other - Prasidh Krishna

Speaking to the media ahead of the second Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham, Prasidh Krishna said that there is a great culture in Team India where all the players are learning from each other, and the pace-bowling great Jasprit Bumrah has been having conversations with everyone.

"What a culture we guys have created. We are learning from each other, no matter who's there or who's around. And with Booms (Bumrah) around, he's been talking to all of us throughout, even before coming here. At least for me, I've been part of this team for a few years now, so the conversations are still going on. One thing you cannot get is experience — you have to go through it yourself. And yeah, I think all of us are excited," Prasidh told reporters in Birmingham, as quoted by TOI.

"If you look at the team, everybody is here. Siraj has played a lot of games, he's going to continue playing, and whoever comes in — or whatever happens later — it's a great experience and an opportunity. That’s the way we look at it," he added.

The dressing room is still positive - Prasidh Krishna

Giving an update on the Indian dressing room, Prasidh Krishna said that the atmosphere remains positive with everyone motivated to deliver their best for the side.

"The dressing room is still positive, happy, and very, very motivated. Like I said, we came here knowing what this opportunity meant for all of us. And even in the game today, we might have looked quiet at times, but I think we still had a plan," he said.

"We wanted to do something, and we went about doing it — we got two wickets in a cluster, twice. So that kept the motivation going. And then, you know, as a bowling unit, when something's happening, we still ended up taking the new ball. They needed about 20 runs, but we held on to the hope that something might happen. So we were still out there believing. We made sure that until the last run was scored, we were still fighting and making them work hard for it," he added.
