"Check Them In IPL" - Kevin Pietersen On Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli's T20 WC 2024 Selection

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen feels that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should be allowed to decide their fate in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Kevin Pietersen also added that selectors should check their form during IPL 2024.

Rohit Sharma has reached 36 while Virat Kohli has turned 35 years. They have also not played any T20I games since the ICC World Cup 2022 loss to England in the semi-final. Hence, there is uncertainty over their selection in the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma Have Every Chance To Be Part Of T20I World Cup: Kevin Pietersen 

While speaking to IANS on the sidelines of Legends League Cricket 2023, former England all-rounder Kevin Pietersen said that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have every chance to play in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

“They ( Kohli and Rohit) have every chance, would have to see how they go in IPL, check them in the IPL. Because they have been so incredible servants to Indian cricket, you have to give them the respect and you have to ask them that according to form whether they fancy their chances or not. They are fabulous cricketers,” Pietersen said.

Kevin Pietersen also added that the form of players in IPL 2024 will follow in T20I World Cup too as both tournaments will be played back-to-back.

“IPL form is going to go a long way, because the final of the IPL and T20 World Cup 2024 wouldn’t have much gap in between. Might be a swansong for couple of them. Let’s wait and see, those kind of players who have dedicated their life to playing for India deserve the respect too,” the Kevin Pietersen further added.

Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma Were Top Run-Getters For Team In ODI WC 2023

Notably, Kohli and Sharma showed marvelous form in the recent ICC ODI World Cup 2023. While Kohli finished as the highest run-getter for the team and the tournament with 765 runs, Sharma was the second-highest run-scorer for India with 597 runs.

ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will be held next year in June in the West Indies and the USA. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be part of IPL 2024. While Rohit Sharma will lead Mumbai Indians, Virat Kohli will feature for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
