In his first innings for Sussex, Cheteshwar Pujara was bowled for 6 off 15 balls on the second day, as his side was bowled for 174 in 56.3 overs in reply to Derbyshire’s 505.

The Indian, on the other hand, turned on a fantastic performance in his second essay, scoring an undefeated 201 not out off 387 balls. His inning featured 23 Fours to the fence.

Pujara’s county spell did get off to the best of beginnings, and he needs a lot of runs to make a comeback into the Indian Test lineup.

After the series in South Africa, the seasoned hitter was dropped from the national team. Ajinkya Rahane was also left out of the Sri Lankan series at home.

Pujara was left out of India’s Test squad for a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which India won 2-0 at home. He was also demoted from A to B on the BCCI contracts.

Pujara, on his Sussex debut, was knocked for 6 off 15 balls during his first innings on the second day, as Sussex was dismissed for 174 in 56.3 overs in response to Derbyshire’s 505.

The Indian, on the other hand, put on a fantastic performance in his second essay, smashing an unbeaten 201 not out off 387 balls. His inning featured 23 home runs to the fence.
Sussex were 513 for three in 176.1 overs when the match finished in a tie after he had a 351-run third-wicket partnership with skipper Tom Haines (243).

Yorkshire, Derbyshire, and Nottinghamshire are among the counties Pujara has previously represented.

The 34-year-old has a fantastic first-class record, scoring 16948 runs in 226 appearances for an average of 50.59. With a best individual score of 352, he has also struck 50 centuries and 70 half-centuries so far.
