Before making headlines for Mizoram, Sutar represented Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy earlier this year after impressing in local cricket. In June, he helped MSC Maratha Royals defend their Mumbai T20 League title, scoring half-centuries in both his final two innings. He finished the tournament with 212 runs from six innings at a strike rate close to 120.
Ahead of the 2026-27 season, the 29-year-old obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to play for Mizoram. He made his Ranji Trophy debut in the season opener against Manipur last week, scoring 35 and 99.
