Chris Cairns Suffers From Aortic Dissection

Chris Cairns was given life support in Canberra hospital for the last week and he had gone through a lot of surgeries already. But the treatments haven’t been effective so far in Canberra hospital and he had to be moved to Sydney Hospital for better treatment. Aortic Dissection is a serious condition of tearing off an inner layer of the heart artery and it doesn’t look good at the moment.

“He is in a serious but stable condition in intensive care,” a spokesperson said from the Syndey hospital. Cairns who has been in Canberra for a long time now had to go through a lot of medical issues of late and the 51-year-old had emotional messages coming in from his former teammates including the likes of Chris Harris and Brendon McCullum.

Chris Cairns was the captain of the Chandigarh Lions in the Indian cricket league in 2008 and he was subjected to match-fixing allegations in India during his stint. He had undergone a lot of issues over it and he had to fight it out legally to prove that the allegations made on him weren’t true. He went on to win the case against Lalit Modi in 2012 and in 2015, he was cleared of any prosecution from Britain.
