Chris Gayle To Lead West Indies, S Sreesanth Named Skipper Of India In American Premier League

Chris Gayle and S. Sreesanth are set to lead their respective teams in the upcoming second season of the American Premier League (APL). S Sreesanth will captain the Premium Indians, while Chris Gayle has been appointed as the leader of the Premium Windies team.
The event will feature a total of seven teams, with each being led by prominent cricket figures, and is scheduled to be played from December 19 to 31. Sohail Tanvir will captain the Premium Paks, Mohammad Nabi will guide the Premium Afghans, and Ben Cutting will handle the captaincy for the Premium Aussies.

Chris Gayle expressed excitement about captaining the Premium Windies team in the APL. Gayle emphasized that the league will provide an excellent opportunity for young American cricketers to take the game to the next level.
“I am excited to wear the captaincy band of a Windies team again. Playing in America is like playing at home. Cricket as a sport had to find a place in the USA someday and this is the best time to have a league like this.” said Gayle.
“The tournament will not just give us an opportunity to show our experience to the local fans but all the young American cricketers who have qualified, will get to learn a lot from this and take the game to the next level,” he added.
The Universe Boss played a crucial role in launching the APL at the renowned Times Square in New York a few months ago. During the event, the 44-year-old was accompanied by league owners and other international cricketers, including Fawad Alam and Ravi Bopara.
England Test cricketer Dan Lawrence will be the captain of the Premium Americans team in the upcoming tournament. Punjab-born Canadian Navneet Dhaliwal, who guided his side to the T20 World Cup 2024, will captain the Premium Canadians in his neighborhood nation.
