"Come to PSL": Pakistan invite Liam Livingstone after he shockingly goes unsold at IPL auction

England cricketer Liam Livingstone did not find a buyer at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 16. The all-rounder, known for his power-hitting and ability to finish games at a high strike rate, surprisingly went through the auction without attracting any bids from franchises.
Livingstone was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s title-winning squad in 2025, but his personal returns were modest. He managed 112 runs from eight innings at a strike rate of 133.33, with just one half-century. With the ball, he bowled nine overs and took two wickets at a disappointing economy rate of 8.44.
Liam Livingstone Goes Unsold at Base Price of ₹2 Crore
Liam Livingstone went unpicked at the IPL 2026 mini-auction, with no franchise willing to bid for him even at a base price of ₹2 crore. The outcome raised eyebrows, given his reputation as a powerful middle-order batter in T20 cricket.
Livingstone was bought by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for ₹8.75 crore at last year’s mega auction. However, they released him after a modest campaign.
Livingstone has scored 1,051 runs in 49 IPL matches at an average of 26.28 and a strike rate of 158.76, with a top score of 94. He has also taken 13 wickets at an average of 36.08. Over the years, he has represented Rajasthan Royals (RR), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
His best IPL season came in 2022 with the Punjab Kings, when he scored 437 runs at a strike rate of 182.08 and took six wickets. He is currently not part of England’s white-ball plans.
Liam Livingstone Impresses in White-Ball Cricket Despite Going Unsold
Since the IPL, Liam Livingstone has been in good form across white-ball tournaments. He led Birmingham Phoenix in the Hundred, finishing as the team’s top scorer with 241 runs at a strike rate of 155.48, while also taking seven wickets at an economy of 7.36.
The all-rounder carried that momentum into the T20 Blast, scoring 260 runs at a strike rate of 176.87 and taking six wickets as Lancashire reached the semifinals.
Livingstone failed to draw interest during the early rounds of the IPL 2026 mini-auction in Abu Dhabi. However, he could still attract bids later in the auction. The England batter also has opportunities to return as an injury replacement, keeping his IPL prospects alive.
