South African seam bowling all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been issued an ultimatum by the ICC for breaching the code of conduct under Article 2.5, which prohibits players from any derogatory action to demean the opposition player by any means.
South Africa recently concluded a tri-nation series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand and ended up losing the finals to the Kiwis. After hosting the Blackcaps, they now tour the Australian islands for a T20I series. The Australians, on the other hand, came from a huge victory against the West Indies.
Australia began the series on a commanding note with a smashing knock from Tim David and a wonderful show put up by their bowlers; however, the visitors were not far behind, as they too dominated in the second game with Brevis scoring his maiden T20I century.
Corbin Bosch penalised for breaching the code of conduct
South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been issued a sanction for the Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during South Africa's record win in the second T20I at Darwin on Tuesday.
Corbin Bosch breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”
This incident was marked in the 17th over of the game, when Corbin Bosch gave a fiery send-off to Ben Dwarshius, a wicket that confirmed the end of the Australian hopes for any further survival in the match. He pointed towards the dugout and asked Dwarshius to follow.
For the offence, one demerit point has been added to Bosch’s disciplinary record. He accepted the sanction proposed by the ICC Match Officials, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.
Dewald Brevis' 'A star is born moment' lived in the 2nd T20I against Australia
After a shaky start to the series, the visitors dominated with a brilliant knock from the young and ravishing talent Dewald Brevis, who single-handedly scored an unbeaten 125* off just 56 balls to take the visitors to a huge 218/7.
This in turn became the highest score by any South African batter in a Men's T20 international, surpassing the former record held by Faf du Plessis, while he also became the youngest Protea to get to a hundred in T20 international cricket.
Brevis, who has been talked about quite often since the IPL 2025, has finally achieved his 'star is born' moment in international cricket and now has the big stage open to show all his antics.
South Africa level series with a huge win at Darwin
After Brevis' maiden T20I century off just 41 balls, which also turned out to be the second fastest century by any South African in international cricket, the Proteas went from a scary score to a decent total of 218, which seemed quite challenging.
In response to the big score, Tim David, who has been in very convincing form for the Australians lately, kept their hopes alive with a 24-ball half-century, but the three consecutive wickets from Kwena Maphaka and Corbin Bosch crushed all hopes for the mighty Aussies.
The Aussies lost the match by a huge 53-run margin after being bowled out for just 165 runs, with the final series decider scheduled at Cairns on Saturday, the 16th of August.
