CPL 2022: Guyana Amazon Warriors Name Shimron Hetmyer Skipper For Caribbean Premier League 2022

Shimron Hetmyer was appointed the Guyana Amazon Warriors’ captain for the 2022 season of the Caribbean Premier League on Thursday, August 18. (CPL).

Nicholas Pooran, who would be playing with the Trinbago Knight Riders, was replaced by Hetmyer.

Hetmyer earned his Warriors breakthrough in 2016 and has since played five seasons under the leadership of Chris Green, Pooran, and Shoaib Malik.

“It gives us great pleasure to name our first Guyanese captain since the 2013 campaign. Hetmyer has been a crucial component of our system over the years, and we think the moment is perfect for him to be the team’s leader “Bobby Ramroop, the chairman of Amazon Warriors, was quoted as saying.

Shimron Hetmyer appointed as the new skipper of the Guyana franchise:

After being selected as the new captain of the Guyana franchise, Hetmyer was likewise overjoyed. “I am thrilled to be in charge of these men. I am eager for the CPL to start “said Hetmyer.

Hetmyer has 1149 runs scored in 47 CPL games with an average of 28.72 and a strike rate of 131.76, along with a century and eight half-centuries.

On Saturday, September 3 at Warner Park in St. Kitts, the Warriors will face the Jamaica Tallawahs in their CPL 2022 season opener.

Despite participating in the CPL championship game as many as five times since 2013, the Amazon Warriors have not yet won the trophy.
